My domain isn't setting up

I have two different domains, one is www.contoso.com and the other is simply contoso.com. The second is the one we for our emails and what-not, and it says the setup is complete and there are not problems. However, the www.contoso.com domain says that setup needs to be completed, but when I try to do that I'm told it's ready to go. I'm trying to rename my Office365 to the www.contoso.com as the instructions indicate, but there are no domains in the drop-down box. This is incredibly frustrating because it's so circular. I'd really love any advice!

Edit: Now the domain has stopped saying it needs to be completed; however, I still don't have it showing up in the drop down box in the 'Rename Website' window from the SharePoint admin center.

The problem I'm seeing is when it says to select "SharePoint Online" for the domain purpose, I'm not given that option. I have only the option to select Exchange and Lync.  Thanks!

Custom administrator roles

Hello.

Is it possible to create custom administrator roles for the Office portal?

We would like to create for example one group administrator for Exchange Online, but not for Sharepoint Online for example.

With global administrators is not possible to do it since they can manage every service.

Hello,

in sharepoint the date is showed in the format MM/DD/YYYY.

There is a normal (simple) way how to change it ?

The best will be format:   9.dec.2014

We have a backup circuit that I would like to get email delivered to in the event that our primary circuit goes down. The firewall will fail over automatically but I'm not sure what to do so we get email delivered across the backup circuit which is a different network provider. Thanks for any help.

Prevent Users Changing Office 365 Photo

Hi,

I'm trying to prevent users from changing their photo in Office365.  Each user's photo is sync from AD using DirSync but user's can currently change it in OWA. 

There's a Default Role Assignment Policy:

Where I can uncheck MyPersonalInformation:

I understand this will prevent users from changing their own photo.  Can someone advise what else will be blocked when MyPersonalInformation is unchecked besides photos?

Also, unchecking this setting should not prevent admin users to upload photos to user's accounts, correct?

Micro Delay Applied when running Powershell Script

Hi,

I've recently prevented users from changing their Office365 photo via Outlook/Lync.  To replace the photos that were changed by the users, I ran a powershell script to set-userphoto for all users.

I was getting a Micro Delay Applied warning while the script was running.  According to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2881759 I can ignore the message.  But I read some blogs that said the account running the script could be locked out.

Can someone advise if this is true?  Apparently, the account could be locked out for 10 days!

Do we need seperate licenses for distribution groups?

we also have a room as a resource preserved, do we need to have a license for this aswell?

Navigation settings - "Sorry, you don't have access to this page"

Hi,


As a tenant and site collection administrators I have encountered a strange behavior when I enter the navigation settings under site settings. (Independent of site)

I receive the message "Sorry, you don't have access to this page". when hitting the OK button on that specific navigation settings page. Doesn't matter if I change any settings or not.

No other settings or paths gives me that message. I have of course the option to request access, and I can approve it, but it does not affect anything.. still the same message.


Any ideas?

Public Folders

Hi,

I have had a look around but cannot find anything to answer this question.

We are using Office 365 P1 plan. I am using the public folders for team collation of project specific emails.

Is it possible to get outlook or another application if necessary, to download a mirror of our public folders. We have relatively poor internet connection and I am finding that any public folder with more than a few emails in it take a very long time to browse. What I was hoping for is a way to have my local PC's or my server keep a mirror copy locally.

I have read that there is integration of office 365 and SBS 2012, would the above feature be part of this integration?

Not sure if this may help, but we have a local server running SBS 2008. We do not currently use the exchange on SBS2008 ( mainly due to the internet issues).

Missing Items in SharePoint Site Settings

Hi,

I'm using SharePoint Online Plan 1 and when I go to my private root, site settings I can only see below item.

Web Designer Galleries
Master pages and page layouts

I can't see Site columns, Site content types, Web parts, etc. I'm the site collection admin in my root site.

When I create new team site (e.g. https://xxxxx.sharepoint.com/sites/teamsite1) I'm able to see below items.

Web Designer Galleries
Site columns, Site content types, Web parts
List templates
Master pages and page layouts
Themes
Solutions
Composed looks

Please help me to solve this issue. Thanks in advance.

User Details Changing Automatically in Office 365 User Administration

We've been encountering an issue with our Office 365 User Administration; the User Details keep disappearing on most, but not all, of our users.  When we create users, we always put First Name, Last Name, Phone, Job Title and Display Name and create each one in the same format. However, the majority of them keep changing by themselves. The First Name and Display Name turn into the User Name and all other details disappear.  We've fixed it multiple times but it keeps resetting itself.

We are a small company running one of the Mid-Size plans and only 2 of us have Company Administration rights and maintain users through the Admin Center. Neither or us are resetting them.  I've searched quite a few different forums but can't seem to find an explanation as to what is happening. Would appreciate any help.

Admin tab missing from Office 365 portal

Hi,

When I login to our office 365 portal, the admin tab has suddenly disappeared! I can see all the other tabs, - Outlook, Calendar, OneDrive, Sites etc. but the admin tab has gone. I am the administrator for the site & need to change the storage limits in my SharePoint site but now this admin tab is missing, how can I get it back?

Can't view site pages with a guest link anonymously

We're a school with multiple internal clubs that we're wanting to allow these groups to have team sites, and on these team site to allow them to designate a page for anonymous access. 

We found that for the team sites we can share documents, but not site pages or wiki.   When sharing a site page, we click get a link and get a view only link successfully, but when testing the link we are prompted to log in.   


Why would the view only link not work the same way for pages as it does for documents?   Also, for allowing groups to share anonymously is there a better approach we can take?
